Coolangatta Psychology
Core Values
Evidence-Based Our practice upholds the scientist-practitioner framework. Our experienced therapists are guided by best practice principles and stay up-to-date with the latest research.
Bespoke We tailor our approaches to meet your unique needs and circumstances, rather than adopting a cookie-cutter approach to your care.
Integrative We carefully design a treatment package specifically for you, incorporating a range of therapeutic modalities that take into consideration a collaborative formulation between you and your therapist.
Holistic We work holistically, recognising that an individual's psychological, physical, relational and spiritual health are interconnected. This means understanding how all aspects of life—such as physical health, lifestyle factors, sleep, relationships, attachment, community, culture, work, and experiences—contribute to our mental health. Additionally, we are mindful of the impact that broader societal issues like heteronormativity, ableism, discrimination, colonisation, poverty, war, and climate change can have on a person’s mental health.
Safe No matter how skilled and experienced your therapist is, therapy will not be helpful if you don’t feel emotionally safe or connected to your therapist. Our clinicians work with a trauma-informed practice grounded in key principles of safety, emotional attunement, trust and transparency, empowerment, and choice. We create a nurturing and validating environment where you feel safe to show up as your whole self and explore your concerns, free from judgment.
Collaborative We strive to remove the power dynamics historically inherent in doctor-patient relationships, which jeopardise the formation of emotional safety and trust. We recognise and value your expertise and knowledge of yourself, working to leverage your strengths. We appreciate your feedback and enjoy learning from each and every one of our clients
Neuroaffirming Our team includes clinicians with lived experience as neurodivergent individuals. We provide support that acknowledges and values neurodiversity, aiming to affirm neurodivergent identities rather than mask them. Feel free to bring your fidgets, stim toys, comfort blankets, and anything else you need to feel comfortable.
Inclusive We welcome and respect individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life. Our practice is a safe space for the LGBTQI2S+ community.
